When allergy symptoms are an emergency

Administer Epinephrine and Call 911 immediately if you notice any of these signs after allergen exposure:

  • Breathing difficulty: wheezing, stridor, throat tightness, hoarse voice, or persistent cough.
  • Swelling: of the tongue, lips, or throat.
  • Circulation: dizziness, fainting, sudden limpness, or pallor (especially in infants).
  • System Combo: vomiting or severe abdominal pain combined with hives or breathing trouble.
  • In Infants: inconsolable crying or sudden behavioral change.
